The Chapel of St. Vladimir served as a strong source of motivation for Russian prisoners of war, helping them endure the inhumane conditions and violence of Austro-Hungarian guards during the construction of the mountain pass road. In 1916, the chapel was handed over for its intended use. There is only one photograph believed to have been taken at the time of its completion.

For hikers, runners, and cyclists, Vršič is a true paradise.

The Vršič Pass hosts three major cycling and running events: “Juriš na Vršič”, “Goni PONI – Red Bull”, and the running event “Tek na Vršič” (Andrejček Run).

Along the way, you can admire Mount Prisank with the Ajdovska Deklica (Heathen Maiden). Prisank also holds another natural attraction. The window on the upper edge of its northern wall is the most famous natural rock window in the Julian Alps and one of the largest natural openings in Slovenia. It is about 80 m high and around 40 m wide. It was formed by a collapse that, through weathering, gradually expanded into its current shape.

The window can also be seen from the road. However, if you take the ridge path from Vršič towards the summit of Prisank, you can get even closer to it.
