The highest mountain of the Slovenian Alps was called a kingdom by Julius Kugy.
Mount Triglav is our national symbol, our “sacred mountain.” You can reach its 2,864 m summit from the valleys of Vrata, Kot, and Krma, from Trenta, Pokljuka, and Bohinj. The shortest route to Triglav starts in the Vrata Valley, while the easiest—yet also the longest—is the 7 km trail through the Krma Valley.
At the summit, you will be greeted by the Aljaž Tower. This metal cylinder, declared a cultural and historical monument, was carried to the top of Triglav by Aljaž’s friends back in 1895.
